Wrappers

Designed by:  Betsy Chutchian

Wrappers were the casual dresses the women wore for everyday activities. Made to suit the season in either cotton or wool, this comfortable dress was high necked with long sleeves and a free-flowing body. Less fitted than more formal dresses, the wrapper didn’t require hoops, corsets, or bustles, was easy to make, and could easily be adjusted for maternity wear. The style was practical and enduring in popularity and suited women of all ages, including young girls.

As with any dress goods, after the garment was completed, the leftover pieces went into a scrap basket, eventually joining other scraps to make quilts for the family.

I am looking forward to this collection coming out! Purples are my favorite! I am so glad to know Betsy - she is a warm and generous teacher and friend! I agree with Barbara - you have outdone yourself this time.

Yeah! Love this collection by Betsy Chutchian...a long-time quilting friend from Grand Prairie/Arlington. Betsy has been a cheerleader/guide into the world of making reproduction quilts sharing her quilts with us in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for some time, and I'm thrilled to see her new collection. What fun! I've already picked a couple of favorites that will need to go into fabric groupings I already have pulled for future projects.

I know this collection isn't in the contest - but it is another gorgeous set of fabrics in chocolate and purples, rich and warm. I wish I could afford to buy charm sets and jelly rolls of both collections!

This collection is gorgeous! Love purples and can't wait to get the fabric. Betsy has outdone herself this time.
